Jan Kaplický begins to create at a time when the whole world is moved by the exploration of space. The first man in space, the first man on the moon. What’s next? This fascination manifests itself in the field of design and architecture itself. The materials, colours and shapes are reminiscent of spacecraft interiors. The interior of Deyan Sudjic’s apartment, the entrance to the Comme des Garcons boutique, the Media Centre in London and many other realised buildings or concepts that seem to be from another world.

The XJK-1 brooches are cosmic objects that evoke a sense of harmony and unrest at the same time. The almost organic structure is combined with the perfect purity of the titanium sheet, which makes the brooches surprisingly light for their size. The backside fitted with rivets stands in contrast to the simplicity of the geometric shape.

Just like that, they travel freely through space.

Jan Kaplický začíná tvořit v období, kdy celým světem hýbe dobývání vesmíru. První člověk ve vesmíru, první člověk na měsíci. Co bude dál? Toto nadšení se projevuje v odvětví designu a samotné architektury. Materiály, barevnost a tvary připomínají interiéry kosmických lodí. Interiér apartmánu Deyana Sudjice, vchod do butiku Comme des Garcons, Media Centre v Londýně a spousta dalších realizovaných budov či konceptů, které působí jakoby by byly z jiného světa.

Brože XJK-1 jsou vesmírnými objekty, které v nás vyvolávají pocit harmonie a zároveň neklidu. Až organická struktura se kloubí s dokonalou čistotou titanového plechu, díky němu jsou brože na svou velikost až překvapivě lehké. Zadní strana opatřena nýty stojí v kontrastu proti jednoduchosti geometrického tvaru.

Jen tak si volně cestují vesmírem.
